Hernia of Morgagni in the Elderly: A Case Report

Congenital diaphragmatic hernias are infrequently encountered in adult patients. A rare type of this hernia is the Morgagni's hernia. Although they remain asymptomatic in a majority of patients, we present the case of an elderly patient who presented to us with abdominal pain and upper gastrointestinal bleeding.

BRIEF REPORT Unusual Presentation of Morgagni Hernia in an Adult

A 48-year-old female with a history of asthma presented with one-week symptoms of productive cough, shortness of breath and fever. Her chest X-ray revealed dense opacity on the right cardiac silhouette. Despite antibiotics, the mass persisted, and CT of the chest was performed, which was reviewed at the referral center and confirmed a Morgagni hernia.
